Through careful planning, forming strategic partnerships, and taking advantage of opportunities, SCRS has become a solid, reliable, and productive organization that today meets the economic independence and self-determination needs of all immigrants and refugees.

  • Assistance with healthcare access, legal protection, education, training for income generation skills, and other resettlement services
  • We partner with Southern MN Legal Services to have a computer kiosk available for virtual legal assistance.
  • We assist new arrivals with documentation paperwork and in navigating the American system.
  • ESL classes are taught in our Faribault location through our partnership with Faribault Adult Basic Education.
  • We work with County Social Services to connect transportation, childcare resources, and provide job search assistance.
  • We are grant-funded through UCare to provide education regarding diabetes, child and teen check-ups, and mental health.
  • We partner with Minnesota CareCounseling to provide linguistically-appropriate trauma counseling.
  • We work with the MN Dept of Health to assess the Somali Communities throughout southern Minnesota for suicide prevention readiness, and to come up with plans to increase prevention measures.
  • We work with the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities to provide leadership training to people with disabilities in the Somali and Latinx communities.
  • we have educational programs for Mental Health.

We partner with the MN Department of Human Services – Refugee Assistance Program to provide assistance developing job skills and finding employment.

  • Through partnerships with the MN Department of Human Services and the MN Dept of Employment and Economic Development we provide leadership, soft skills training and assistance with job search to youth.
  • Programming for health and socialization is provided for elders in partnership with UCare
  • We provide work experiences and supported employment to older workers through the Senior Community Supported Employment Program.
